Job Duties
Western State Hospital is seeking a wage/part time Rehab Assistant who will assist in the development of and implementation of therapeutic interventions within the psychosocial treatment program. To provide open leisure programming available to all patients of Western State Hospital and provide on-unit programming on admissions units.
This position will conduct 4-6 hours of psychosocial rehabilitation interventions per week, according to approved schedules; planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating programs for weekend activities on admission PCUs; ensuring that that interventions are appropriate to individual clients' ages, interests, and abilities as reflected by assessment data. Interacts with clients according to TOVA guidelines; tracking patient attendance and participation for weekend programming on admission PCU; and demonstrating competency as psychosocial rehab facilitator by obtaining passing score on staff competency summary.
Minimum Qualifications
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of recreation activities
- Ability to assess needs and plan programs and evaluate effectiveness
- Ability to perform essential functions of this position, which requires: repetitious walking; visual acuity to observe and report changes in patient's behaviors on a continuous basis; bending, lifting and reaching overhead to position, restrain, transfer, transport or escort patients and to assist patients to perform activities
