Eastern State Hospital (ESH), located in Williamsburg, Virginia, was founded in 1773 with a well-intentional emphasis on community focused care. This state-of-the-art campus, situated on 500 acres, consists of two patient care buildings with 300 patients, and a highly skilled staff of over 900. Eastern State Hospital is part of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Services (DBHDS) system and is accredited by the Joint Commission.
ESH invites applications for the position of PEER RECOVERY SPECIALIST (DSA III). This position is considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency, pandemic, or facility need. All ESH positions are required to work different shifts to include nights, weekends, and holidays, and/or overtime as requested. Position will report directly to the Patient Employment/Recovery Coordinator to plan and implement peer support services and treatment, with an emphasis on Substance Use Disorder (SUD) recovery, to meet the psychiatric and physical needs of patients. Ensure that all patients will receive the highest quality of care possible.
Minimum Qualifications
Valid Peer Specialist certification.
Experience in applying behavioral intervention methods with an emphasis on SUD recovery.
Previous experience as a service provider in an inpatient program for mentally ill, mentally challenged and/or substance use disordered patients.
Willing to obtain/maintain certification as an employment specialist.
Maintain certification with Action Planning for Prevention and Recovery (APPR).
Valid driver's license.
