The Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation is an educational agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia offering programs and resources about early American history through its museums – Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown.
The retail operations efforts at the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation help create revenue in support of our museums, educational programs, community resources, staff and stakeholders. This newly created position looks to combine retail warehouse experience and support with the technical skills needed to grow the e-commerce potential of our museum shops.
Job Duties
To support merchandise receiving, distribution and fulfillment functions at the central warehouse. To facilitate merchandise selection and e-commerce merchandising to best balance appropriateness to mission and salability. To enhance guest experience by offering relevant products with best value connotation. To promote e-commerce as viable museum shop channel.
This part-time position requires working at both the Emerson Central Support Complex and Jamestown Settlement.
Minimum Qualifications
• General understanding of specialty retail systems.
• Must be able to move and lift boxes/merchandise weighing up to 25 lbs.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Proven ability to work autonomously and meet or exceed deadlines.
Additional Considerations
• Experience in busy specialty retail store and/or warehouse setting.
• Experience with e-commerce and/or social media coordination and engagement is helpful but not required.
• Substantial understanding of multi-channel retail operations.
