Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Taxation’s Office of Compliance is seeking a Collections Manager. In this role, you will serve in a key leadership position that leads with focus on safeguarding taxpayer information, employee engagement and adherence to Virginia state laws, collection procedures and regulations. This independent role will work with a hybrid team of collections staff using critical thinking to solve problems, promote a collaborative team culture while managing personnel relation issues, interpret legislation, assess controls, productivity, and perform quality sampling.

You and your team will ensure collections and the proper resolution of delinquent tax liabilities, of businesses and individuals in a fair and equitable manner and with a high level of customer service and professionalism.

This position is eligible for two telework days per week and will be required to work from the Main Street Center Office the other three days.

The anticipated hiring salary is commensurate with experience up to $85,000.

Minimum Qualifications

 

Knowledge of business/corporate taxes

Supervisory experience in collections, sales, tax debt, and/or call center management

Experience with providing direct training, mentorship, instruction and leadership to staff members

Strong conflict management and extensive experience with personnel relations

Demonstrated ability to understand and interpret tax policy, laws and regulations

Strong written and verbal communication with internal and external stakeholders

Demonstrated ability to provide high quality customer service and ability to speak and engage with members of the public

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint

 

 

Additional Considerations

 

Local, state or federal government experience

Experience working independently and managing remote and or hybrid workers
