Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Taxation’s Delinquent Collections Office is seeking enthusiastic individuals to serve as Offer in Compromise (OIC) Specialists to ensure compliance and the proper resolution of delinquent tax liabilities of businesses and individuals in a fair and equitable manner and provide quality service to all customers while safeguarding taxpayer data. The OIC Specialist will verify tax liability as well as clarify tax laws and resolve cases through various forms of communication including but not limited to emails, outbound and in-bound telephone calls in a production-oriented call center environment.
As an OIC Specialist you will:
Assist taxpayers on inbound phone calls
Contact businesses and individuals
Research accounts utilizing an automated collection and case management system
Ensure compliance through the use of administrative legal collection actions such as lien releases, lien adjustments, and setting official payment plans.
This position will report to the Main Street Centre location in downtown Richmond, VA. This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule once fully trained. The office days will be Tuesday's, Wednesday's and Thursday's.
The anticipated hiring salary is commensurate with experience up to $44,192.

Minimum Qualifications
Experience working in a fast-paced, high volume call center environment
Progressive work experience in collections and/or customer service
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with all levels of the organization in a professional, courteous and tactful manner with a diverse group of people
Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, meetings and training to effectively meet required production goals
Skilled in resolving problems in adversarial situations and interacting effectively with internal and external customers in favorable and unfavorable situations
Ability to analyze financial and technical information and determine appropriate or alternate course of action
Experience in researching and investigative techniques utilizing an automated collection, accounting, and case management system
Additional Considerations
Collection experience with local, state or federal government
