Job Duties

The Department of Medical Assistance Services (DMAS) is excited to offer a competitive opportunity to serve as the Maternal Health Program Analyst in the Health Care Services Unit.

Job responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

The primary objective of this role is to monitor and evaluate Medicaid maternal health services, including the doula benefit, across the Commonwealth of Virginia.

This involves collaborating with contracted MCOs, DMAS divisions, fee-for-service contractors, other state agencies and stakeholders, and healthcare providers to ensure the successful implementation and execution of DMAS maternal health policies and programs.

Additionally, this role will provide subject matter expertise and programmatic support for maternal health-related Medicaid policies, ensuring they improve member access to effective, member-centered maternal healthcare services and any related special projects, as assigned.

This position requires travel, including overnight travel (intra- and inter-state) for meetings, conferences and/or trainings several times per year.

Minimum Qualifications

Competitive candidates will meet these minimum qualifications:

Considerable knowledge managing programs and policies regarding women’s health care, including preventive and wellness care, maternal health care and family planning.

Experience utilizing Medicaid systems such as MMIS or similar systems.

Experience using procedures and processes to analyze and trend data in order to track compliance with program contract requirements.

Experience in planning, developing, implementing and monitoring the effectiveness of programs, policies or operations.

Experience utilizing word processing, spreadsheet, presentation software/applications.

Considerable knowledge in interpretation and application of federal, state laws/regulations.

Experience meeting deadlines.

Experience with internal/external stakeholders, including preparing and giving presentations, and leading collaborative efforts (workgroups, taskforces) with partner organizations or agencies.

Additional Considerations

Competitive candidates should meet these additional considerations:

Work experience with managed care organizations.

Work experience in provider or Managed Care Organization (MCO) compliance oversight.

Considerable knowledge of availability, benefits, training and practice of doula services and supports.
