About the Position:
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is seeking to hire an Equipment Repair Tech Auto in our Communications Division at our Administrative Headquarters in North Chesterfield, Virginia. The successful candidate will primarily perform maintenance and repairs to fleet vehicles including but not limited to state inspections, oil changes, brake service, tire installation, and automotive detailing; remove and repair police, communications and other electronic equipment in VSP vehicles; ensure quality control of installations and communications equipment; calibrations of 2wd and awd fleet vehicles; and towing wrecked and disabled vehicles.

Minimum Qualifications
•Knowledge of 12-volt systems.
•Knowledge and skills to diagnose, repair, and service motor vehicles.
•Must be able to be able to utilize computer programs and applications for diagnostics and repairs and handling Department correspondence; to safely use woodworking and mechanics hand tools; to read and comprehend manuals and other written documents; to follow verbal and written instructions; and to transport vehicles to various outside sources and represent the Department in a professional manner.
•Must have the ability to operate a rollback type car carrier.
•Mechanical or automotive repair experience required.
•Experience reading and comprehending automotive or mechanical installation/repair manuals.
•Must be able to work overtime as needed.
•Valid Virginia Operator's License required.
•High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
