Job Duties

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center; named for two Medal of Honor recipients – Colonel Van Barfoot and Colonel Carl Sitter – provides the gold standard in quality care for Virginia’s Veterans. This single-level facility features 200 single-occupancy rooms across three nursing units.

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center (SBVCC) is recruiting for a full-time Floor Tech with standard work hours of 7A-330P EST, including scheduled shift(s) every other weekend.

Job Duties Include:

• Apply appropriate cleaning techniques, procedures and the use of products/equipment to a broad range of surfaces while engaged in stripping and refinishing floors, buffing floors, also shampooing carpets and cleaning upholstery.
• Responsible for the removal of bio hazard boxes from the units as needed.
• Responsible of waste/trash removal.
• Routine replenishment of supplies such as paper towels, toilet paper, hand soaps, deodorants, cleaning-up of body fluids and body waste.
• Keep housekeeping storage and housekeeping cart clean and organized.
• Perform all functions of the job by adhering to department and facility policies and procedures.
• Complete daily routine however, each staff member is cross-trained in all other areas of Environmental Services and can be asked to perform other duties as needed.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge of stripping, waxing, buffing floors.
• Knowledge in the use of cleaning devices such as brooms, mops, buffers, and other cleaning equipment.
• Knowledge of floor care equipment such as extractors, slow speed upholstery cleaners etc.

Additional Considerations

• Experience working in a long-term care facility or hospital preferred.
