VDOT’s Fredericksburg District has exciting an opportunity available in its Fredericksburg Residency. We are seeking qualified candidates to fill an Assistant Residency Administrator position. This position assists the Residency Administrator to ensure the coordination, integration and management of VDOT resources that impact the Residency program. At the Residency Administrator's discretion, they may serve as the focal point for services and primary contact or liaison for local governments on activities that impact the local geographic region. They manage resources allocated to the program to accomplish the objective.

• Ability to work effectively with customers with multiple needs or interests to resolve issues and complaints

 

Minimum Qualifications

• Valid driver's license
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with internal and external stakeholders at all levels
• Skill in the use of computers and software applications
• Considerable knowledge of roadway construction and maintenance operations, equipment, materials and techniques
• Considerable knowledge of federal and state rules, regulations, and policies as they relate to transportation
• Skill in maintaining effective relationships and building teams

 

Additional Considerations

• A combination of training, experience, or education in civil engineering or related field desired
• Professional Engineer license or Engineer in Training
• Experience leading and supervising others
• Experience in the management of transportation programs and projects of varying complexity
• Experience in budget development and administration using automated financial software systems

This position is classified as essential to emergency operations and will be required to work outside of normal work hours, on weekends and holidays during emergency situations which may include but are not limited to inclement weather, disaster response and emergency operations to ensure the safety of the traveling public.
