Job Duties

• Oversee the CWSP recruitment process at VSU.
• Select "good fit" candidates to fill available stipend slots.
• Work with VSU Office of Field Education Director or designee to develop and oversee CSWP eligible and appropriate field placements and experiences CWSP students.
• Engage in constructive dialogue with supervisor
Monitor Students contractual obligations.

• Identify an annual cohort of up to twelve (12) students to include new and returning full-time Senior BSW and/or MSW 2nd year students for admittance to the CWSP for enrollment
• Develop brochures/flyers about the CWSP for both programs to use on recruiting trips, open houses, and information sessions.
• Provide Orientation/Information sessions
• Distribute periodic emails, flyers to alumni networks, new students, and agency visits about the CWSP.
• Design/develop an online CWSP application to add to VSU Social Work website
• Ensure all applicants submits relevant information (writing sample, copy of valid Virginia drivers’ license, etc.)
• Ensure student completes in-person interview/virtual with assigned

• Ensure VSU offers at least one (1) Child Welfare Policy course and one (1) Child Welfare Practice Course
• Submit new proposed courses to CWSP State coordinator for approval and verification that they meet the state/federal CWSP course content requirements, prior to offering courses
• Receive CWSP State Coordinator approval for any significant syllabus and course content revision, and annually prior to the beginning of each academic year
• Develop distance-education options depending on needs of VSU student population
• each at least one (1) CW course.

• Offer two (2) full academic year field practicums to CWSP MSW students in the traditional two (2) year MSW program
• Offer one (1) full academic year field practicum to CWSP BSW students in their Senior year
• RecruitAdd at least 3-5 new internship agencies per year and maintain a spreadsheet with all pertinent information
• Contact agencies at least 3-4 months of advance of the upcoming semester to secure LDSS placements
• Provide field Supervision for students at agency without and MSW field supervisor



Minimum Qualifications

The following requirements must be demonstrated via Resume and/or application in order to receive credit:


• Knowledge & Experience in Public or Private Child Welfare (Foster Care, Adoption, CPS, In-Home-Family Preservation/Prevention).
• Proficient experience with Microsoft Suite applications and Family Partnership/TDM meetings.
• Ability to resolve complex field practicum concerns
• Ability to identify and recruit internship agencies for MSW students
• Ability to organize and manage student, community partners, and VSU faculty meetings
• Ability to design/create simulated scenarios to enhance student


• Schedule mid-term and end of semester evaluations. One of these must be in-person or virtual
• Alert OFE/Field Director of any students who may have a grade of “C” or below at the end of each semester
• Offer insights/strategies to support students who appear to be struggling academically
