About the Agency:

The Virginia Department of Military Affairs State Team provides professional and responsive state support functions to the Adjutant General of Virginia, the Virginia National Guard, the Virginia Air Guard, and the Virginia Defense Force in order to ensure their ability to support and defend the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Purpose of Position:

This position is responsible for capturing all fixed asset and construction in progress expenditures made by DMA on behalf of Federal/State Agreements; properly identify, classify, reconcile and record these expenditures in the Commonwealth’s Fixed Asset Accounting and Control System (FAACS) as well as the agency’s fixed asset access database. In addition, assists with Agency Risk Management Internal Control System (ARMICS) program and prepares various monthly reconciliations. Responsible for preparing the year-end attachment for FAACS.

Effective May 7, 2025:

Minimum Qualifications

Must be a current or previous Commonwealth of Virginia State employee;

Proficiency with Microsoft Office products to include Word, Excel, and Outlook required;

Must have extensive experience in accounting with the Commonwealth of Virginia;

Significant knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and practices including cost accounting and payroll accounting;

Demonstrated ability to prepare financial reports and statements;

Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers and non-menu driven databases;

Ability to plan and organize work; communicate effectively verbally and in writing; have analytical/problem solving skills;

FAACS (Fixed Asset Accounting and Control System) is required;

Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record required.

Additional Considerations

Prior audit experience a plus;

Agency Risk Management Internal Control System (ARMICS) experience preferred;

Previous experience with Cardinal and eVA preferred.
