The Department of Labor and Industry’s Division of Labor & Employment Law at the Richmond Headquarters Office is seeking a self-motivated individual to serve as Prevailing Wage Analyst. This position recommends to the Commissioner the prevailing wage rates for state agencies or local government contracts. Utilizes the Davis-Bacon Act to establish wage rate recommendations. Receives and maintains certified pay scale by contractors and its subcontractors on public contracts. Receives and maintains employers’ certifications that they have posted the prevailing wage rates for each craft and classification as required by statute. Compiles and prepares FOIA responses concerning the prevailing wage rates under public contracts. Responds to the public’s written and verbal inquiries concerning the prevailing wage.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Experience performing research, data collection, analysis.
• Experience writing detailed and comprehensive statistical reports and recommending actions.

Additional Considerations:

• Knowledge of and/or experience with state and federal laws governing labor and employment.
• Experience to deal effectively with the general public, agency personnel, and federal and state officials.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Verifiable fluency in speaking, reading, and writing Spanish.

Special Requirements:
• Possession of a valid driver’s license at the time of hiring or within 30 days of hiring.
• Ability to travel overnight occasionally.
• Ability to perform moderate physical activity that includes, but is not limited to, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, walking up and down inclines, occasionally lifting and carrying loads up to 30 pounds, etc.
• The selected candidate must pass a criminal background investigation, and successfully serve a 12-month probationary period effective from the date of employment if beginning employment as an original hire or re-employment.

Special Instructions:
The advertised salary range for this position is $57,000 - $62,000 plus the State's benefits package. Please note, the agency will not entertain salary negotiations beyond the advertised salary range.
