Job Duties

Virginia Correctional Enterprises (VCE) is a manufacturing and service agency that is focused on providing meaningful jobs and work skills for offenders and offering quality goods and services to our customers. Probationary Period: If hired by VCE you will start or restart a 12-month probationary period. This is for all New Hires, Transfers, returning State Employees. Contributes toward meeting the organizational objective by overseeing the planning, program design, growth, and development of training and work experiences for inmates employed by Virginia Correctional Enterprises (VCE). Serves as VCE liaison with DOC, state, and industry workforce organizations. Consults with VCE Managers and Supervisors to identify training needs for the range of industries represented. Maintains data on workforce development programs, tracks outcomes, and prepares reports on training completed.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to serve as a liaison between VCE Managers and staff, inmates, and workforce development partners. Must have demonstrated skill in developing partnerships with service agencies and industry partners. Must possess the ability to effectively facilitate experiential learning for adults. Demonstrated skill in making effective presentations to diverse audiences. Ability to conduct training and develop course content for use across VCE. Competence in project conception, design, planning, implementation and in managing multiple task projects. Demonstrated competence in the use of Microsoft Office products. Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to work effectively, independently and as a part of a diverse team. Experience with coordinating multi-site training programs and successfully collaborating with professionals both inside and outside the agency.

Additional Considerations

Prior experience as a workforce development professional. Prior experience in industrial training.
