Job Duties
To promote long-lasting public safety and reduce recidivism by supporting those under the care of the Virginia Department of Corrections to ensure success during incarceration and throughout probation/parole supervision. This is achieved through collaboration and partnerships with state agencies and community stakeholders.
Collaborate with Regional Administrators and Probation & Parole District Chiefs statewide to identify workforce needs and formulate strategies to increase meaningful employment for probationers/parolees. Bridge the gap between community corrections and the broader community, ensuring that justice-impacted individuals receive the support needed for successful integration into the workforce. Collaborate closely with local organizations, educational institutions, businesses and government agencies to
understand the unique needs and challenges of justice-impacted individuals. Create tailored solutions that enhance employment prospects and foster stronger partnerships with community stakeholders. Inform employers regarding the benefits of second chance hires. This position will service VADOC Probation and Parole Districts which supervises individuals releasing from correctional centers, jails and direct court referrals.
Minimum Qualifications
Proven experience in workforce development, economic development, or a related field. Ability to analyze local job markets and identify trends and opportunities for workforce development. Experienced in public speaking to represent the organization at events and meetings. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to build and maintain relationships with various stakeholders, including educational institutions, government agencies, employers, and private sector partners. Strong problem-solving skills to develop innovative solutions to workforce challenges.
Additional Considerations
Must possess or be eligible to apply for Global Career Development Facilitator credential issued by the Center for Credentialing and Education (see: www.cdf-global.org) Prior work experience in marketing, training and project management.
