Job Duties
The Central Receiving Office Coordinator ensures sound fiscal management and accountability through the effective receiving, storage, retrieval, delivery, surplus, and salvage of university assets.
The Shipping Specialist prepares, verifies, and processes incoming and outgoing shipments within quality and productivity standards. Receives and unloads incoming items and compares information on packing slips with purchase orders to verify the accuracy of shipment. Processed return shipments to vendors and from customers when required. Inspects shipments for damage or defects, records discrepancies notify supervisor. Traces and corrects shipment/delivery issues. Maintains department database, prepares routine reports, and files shipping/receiving records.
Works under the close supervision of the Central Receiving Manager in performing the daily shipping and receiving activities from the loading dock. Works with the Centra Receiving Manager to identify fixed assets of the University by cost and properly obtain end locations for each item for Fixed Assets Manager to tag and file. Contacts departments to ensure the proper locations of large deliveries, equipment, and furnishings.
Receives items on Banner, eVa and on the daily computerized log within three working days of the date items were physically received in Central receiving.
Secures Warehouse on a daily basis. All bay doors and outside entrance doors are locked daily before leaving.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and/or Competencies required to successfully perform the work:
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
Physically perform requirements of the job, driving, and prolonged standing, walking, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
Ability to use personal computers and automated equipment.
Ability to communicate effectively with staff and faculty.
Ability to drive trucks, prolonged standing, walking, and lifting up to 20 pounds.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with faculty and staff is essential.
Additional Considerations
Post-secondary training in shipping and receiving.
Experience with Eva, and Banner
