Job Duties
The Virginia Beach WIC Program is seeking a highly motivated and energetic individual to join the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) team. The Nutritionist Senior is responsible for managing and evaluating personnel and for scheduling clinic services for The Oceana Base. Other responsibilities include nutrition assessments and counseling for high-risk pregnant women, infants & children.
The position also assists in presenting nutrition education classes to clients, conducting financial interviews to determine income eligibility and performing heights, weights, and lab. Additional duties may include vendor monitoring or the Breastfeeding Coordinator. The candidate may be asked to travel between the four Virginia Beach WIC offices to perform duties as needed.
This is a restricted position which is solely funded by the WIC Federal grant, renewable annually in September. Employment is contingent on the continued availability of grant funds.

Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of nutritional programs, policies & procedures; current therapeutic diets, principles of nutrition, nutrition standards & application to public health
• Skills in use of electronic health records; counseling techniques including motivational interviewing & participant centered approaches
• Ability to supervise, schedule & evaluate personnel; assess clinic flow for efficiency & effectiveness; promote breastfeeding; perform comprehensive nutrition assessments; identify nutrition risks & develop individual care plans; communicate in a professional manner; work effectively as a member of a team with diverse participants

• Registration by Commission on Dietetic Registration
• Obtain certification as Competent Professional Authority within (6) months of hire
