Job Duties
$5,000 Sign-On Bonus or up to $10,000 Student Loan Repayment may be available for eligible new hires.
Provides mental health services to inmates including crisis intervention, screening, psychological assessment and evaluation, psychoeducational services, individual and group therapy, treatment planning, and release planning under the supervision and direction of the Mental Health Clinician Senior. Screens, tracks and monitors inmates with mental health service needs in general population and Restorative Housing. Involved in the development, implementation and monitoring of mental health services, policies, and programs at the facility. May be involved with special units or programs. Serves as a consultant to Administration, Security, Treatment and Community Corrections staff. Provides in-service and other training.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate degree in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Social Work, Clinical Social Work, or equivalent degree in related human services field from an accredited university or college or an equivalent combination of training and experience, with advanced coursework in mental health supporting the ability to fulfill the required tasks of a Mental Health Service Provider as mandated by the Code of Virginia
Training and experience in the treatment of mental disorders
Demonstrated ability to develop intervention and treatment plans and provide individual and group counseling or therapy
Considerable knowledge of psychopathology, diagnostic nomenclature, psychological theory and ethical practices
Demonstrated skill in psychological assessment including diagnostic interviewing and report writing
Demonstrated ability to provide training to clinical and non-clinical staff
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Additional Considerations
Ability to fulfill professional tasks of a Mental Health Service Provider as mandated by the Code of Virginia
Experience in correctional, forensic, mental health or other institutional setting
Demonstrated ability to provide clinical and administrative supervision to mental health staff
Relevant experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation
