Job Duties

The Science Museum of Virginia is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented part-time Graphic Support Specialist to bring bold ideas to life through engaging visual communications.

In this exciting role, you’ll work with the Graphic Designer to support the design and production of print and electronic marketing, promotional, operational, fundraising and educational materials for a wide range of audiences and initiatives. Your creative work will help promote the Science Museum of Virginia, Danville Science Center, Science Museum of Virginia Foundation, Danville Science Center Foundation and Northern Virginia Science Center Foundation.

Please note that this is a part-time, in-person position and will be scheduled for 29 hours a week on average with a maximum of 1500 hours in a 12-month period. No state benefits are provided.

Minimum Qualifications

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator, along with formal training or hands-on experience in typography. They excel at managing multiple design projects simultaneously while delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines. Experience and/or training (coursework, workshops, certifications, etc.) in communications, arts, advertising, marketing, publishing and/or design. Candidate must present a strong portfolio showcasing diverse experience across various graphic design projects.

Additional Considerations

Familiarity with content management system (CMS) design is a plus.
