ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, a GREAT PLACE, doing GREAT THINGS, because of GREAT PEOPLE, is seeking applicants to fill an Assistant Coordinator of Meetings & Events position. This is a full time/salaried position with benefits.

ABOUT THE POSITION
The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center is seeking a dynamic and creative Assistant Coordinator of Meetings & Events to join our team. The primary purpose of this position is to provide leadership and coordination to the daily operations of the Conference Services Department in collaboration with the manager for the department. The position also serves as an assistant to the Director of Events assisting customers with room reservations and event details as needed. The position additionally serves to coordinate meetings & events for the Center's Sim Lab and related spaces. The incumbent of this position will be required to assist in the set-up and the tear down of tables/chairs/furnishings as well as assist with the distribution of food and beverage services as needed. The incumbent of this position will also be required to occasionally perform light cleaning and housekeeping duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications
· Considerable experience and knowledge of event planning and providing customer support.
· Ability to proficiently enter and retrieve information in computer information systems.
· Must possess the physical ability to lift moderate to heavy weight to assist with the set-up for conferences and meetings.
· Possess the ability to bend and walk or stand for extended periods of time.
· Must possess the ability to read, write, and comprehend directions and instructions.
· Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
· Strong computer and technology skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Experience which demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills with special attention to detail.
· Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Additional Considerations
· Familiarity with Accruent EMS (an event management system) and Cvent Social Tables (room diagraming software).
· Familiarity with basic healthcare terminology and simulation lab operations, including the use of high- and low-fidelity mannequins, disposables, and other medical equipment.
· Experience supporting technology in a simulation-based environment. (i.e. immersion room and mannequins)
· Experience reconciling purchasing documentation.
· Familiarity with preparing accounts receivable reports.
