Job Duties

The attorney, based in Richmond, will serve as a litigator in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (Civil) handling civil fraud matters involving health care providers participating in the Virginia Medicaid Program. Responsibilities include investigation of whistleblower lawsuits
filed under the Virginia Fraud Against Taxpayers Act involving analysis of Medicaid claims data, significant document review, and witness interviews. In addition to civil litigation, the position may be utilized to support parallel proceedings coordinated with federal law
enforcement. Responsibilities also include all aspects of litigation and settlement. Employment is conditioned upon a favorable completion of a background investigation. The selected applicant must be able to secure and maintain an appointment as a Special Assistant United
States Attorney.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Applicants must have graduated from an accredited law school and be
    admitted to the Virginia State Bar.
  • Excellent analytical, writing, and interpersonal communication skills are required as evidenced by writing sample and references.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required.
  • Experience handling matters involving health care, and health care law will also be considered.
  • Candidates with demonstrated proficiency with using electronic discovery platforms, including Relativity are preferred.
  • Travel requirements will vary depending on the needs of the case.

Additional Considerations

Candidates with a minimum of one to three years of civil litigation or health care practice experience preferred.
