Job Duties
To provide support to the Virginia Parole Board as it manages discretionary parole, conditional release, and supervision of persons on parole or release in the best interest of the Commonwealth of Virginia with due regard for public safety, respect for victims of crime, and the suitability of offenders for parole or release. The Parole Board reviews all petitions for clemency and makes recommendations on granting clemency to the Governor's Office.
The Executive Secretary Sr. is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to Parole Board members. This includes administering the appeal/reconsideration process, managing the Board appointment process, implementing revocation and Parole Decisions, acting as a backup receptionist for Parole Board, and manages the
geriatric review process.
Minimum Qualifications
Experience researching and analyzing data in order to reach logical conclusions and prepare routine reports. Demonstrated skill in the use of Microsoft Office to include Word, Excel and Outlook. Experience inputting data into an automated database other than MS Office. Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and complete tasks in a timely manner. Experience communicating with customers, employees, and other individuals to answer questions, disseminate or explain information in a courteous manner.
Additional Considerations
Considerable recent experience providing customer and administrative support to include word processing, filing and other related duties in a professional office setting. Administrative experience in a criminal justice, court, or law office setting. Prefer experience working in a Probation and Parole office.
