Job Duties

Are you skilled in maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling accounts, and communicating effectively with clients to resolve billing issues?

Virginia Beach Health District is seeking a detail-oriented and highly organized Accounts Receivable Specialist with a strong track record of managing invoicing, payments, and collections to ensure timely cash flow. Proficient in accounting software and committed to supporting the financial health of the organization through efficient receivables management. This position has a strong focus on Accounts Receivables and Record & Data Mangement.

Core Duties:

Accounts Receivable

  • Prepares bills for internal or external vendors/clients within automated system and following well-established guidelines
  •  Monitors outstanding accounts to third parties

Records & Data Maintenance

  • Assists in resolving fiscal discrepancies following established processes and procedures
  • Maintains account ledgers in automated account system and within well-established guidelines

Minimum Qualifications

  • Ability to follow established policies and procedures and apply knowledge of policies and procedures in day-to-day work
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, purchasing systems and related procedures
  • Knowledge of basic computer applications and various database and software programs
  • Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing

Additional Considerations

  • Experience with state accounting and purchasing policies, procedures, and systems
  • Experience processing accounts payable invoices and purchase orders
  • Experience and knowledge of explanation of benefits
