Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is hiring a Mail Services Technician to perform a variety of duties in the agency Mail Services Section to ensure the accurate and efficient handling of mail processes, compliance with postal regulations, and operational alignment with agency objectives.
Responsibilities Include:
• Aids in the daily mail operations, including incoming and outgoing correspondence and certified mail processes
• Serves as a courier, ensuring scheduled pickups and deliveries to and from DMV locations and such as state agencies, the governor’s office, and banks are made on time
• Match multi-page documents with corresponding envelopes and required inserts, ensuring that all daily notices and orders meet established processing and quality standards
• Monitor equipment performance, including Xerox and Pitney Bowes, and Connect3000 machines, scheduling preventive maintenance
• Collaborates with external vendors, including UPS, FedEx, Pitney Bowes, USPS, and other third-party courier services, ensuring operational alignment and quality service
• Collaborates with the Motor Vehicle Dealer Board (MVDB), Board of Towing & Recovery Operators, and other agencies for inserting and mailing requests

Minimum Qualifications
• Comprehensive knowledge of USPS regulations and standards
• Skilled in maintaining accurate mailing, postage, and compliance records
• Familiarity with preventive maintenance practices for mail equipment to minimize downtime and ensure operational efficiency
• Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal teams, vendors, and external agencies
• Ability to enforce safety protocols and ensure compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and environmental, standards
• Capacity to prioritize and handle high-volume workflows
• Must have the ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
• Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing
Additional Considerations
• Proficiency in operating specialized equipment, including Pitney Bowes Connect 3000, SendPro360, VOTI X-ray Security Systems, Xerox multifunction printers, and/or UPS WorldShip
