Job Duties
Reports to the Director of IT Infrastructure and Operations with respect to agency IT directives and to the Administrator of the Virginia Veterans Care Center (PVCC) for daily schedule, time off and assignments. The IT Lead Engineer is responsible for providing day to day technical support to PVCC and agency DVS staff members. The engineer will fulfill service requests, resolve network related incidents and solution problems, while supporting changes to servers, applications, databases, and support rollout of new equipment, including PCs, mobile devices, and DVS enterprise networks. This position will provide support to the agency's End Users and Network Operations. As the lead, the engineer will provide technical leadership, and coach and manage daily duties for the contracting staff of IT Engineers per the direction of PVCC leadership and/or IT Leadership. The role acts as local security officer responsible to ensure compliance with the Virginia Information Technology Agency (VITA) and Department of Veterans Services’ policies, and guidelines; compliance with state and federal statutes governing the collection and security of data, and the administration of IT systems and applications. The Lead IT Engineer will also support and escort key VITA and other related suppliers and vendors for site specific needs. Corrective action regarding job performance is overseen by Director of IT with approval of Administrator of PVCC.
Minimum Qualifications
Training in Windows systems and networking (MCSE preferred). Eight years of relevant experience in Helpdesk and network/infrastructure support or a 2-year associate degree or 4-year bachelor degree is desirable in Information technology or a related field. Considerable experience in network design, implementation, operation, and troubleshooting. Considerable experience in networked storage devices, service administration and network management devices. Demonstrated knowledge in overall architectural design, implementation, and operation of modern IT infrastructure networking. Ability to perform and complete concurrent assignments on time, independently, and deliver quality results. Considerable experience supporting windows server and Azure cloud environment. Demonstrated ability to effectively investigate, analyze, and resolve complex technical issues from design, implementation, to operation. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

High School graduate or equivalency preferred. Experience working in institutional food preparation or related field and experience working in skilled-nursing facilities also preferred.
