Job Duties

The Vital Records Office Services Specialist processes a high volume of vital record requests and/or enters a high volume of records into the vital records system with very good accuracy. This position is also responsible for responding to requests in writing, or via telephone, maintaining office files, performing quality assurance, and is required to meet daily production goals while adhering to VDH policies and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications

• General knowledge of office principles and practices
• Demonstrated working knowledge of Microsoft Products
• Considerable skill in the operation of standard office equipment
• Experience interpreting and follow established procedures and guidelines
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and meet deadlines
• Experience completing a high volume of work on a daily basis
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry

Additional Considerations

• Experience working in an office setting handling confidential information
• Experience receiving and reconciling customer payments for services
• Experience performing research to solve problems, using analytical and critical thinking skills

May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor. May be required by VDH to adjust work hours, location, and job duties and participate in training to meet public health business needs, including emergencies. If this position is designated as a mobile worker, this includes both working in the field and teleworking at an alternate location when not in the field or during an emergency closing. You may be required to periodically come into your assigned office to attend meetings or training.
