Job Duties
The Department of Rail and Public Transportation (DRPT) is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Database Administrator and SQL Programmer. This position will be responsible for providing web application and database application support services for the agency. Specifically, the Database Administrator and SQL Programmer will be responsible for, but not limited to, database administration, development and maintenance; data analysis and visualization; website and application maintenance, and end user support. The Department of Rail and Public Transportation offers a generous total compensation package. Well qualified candidates will be eligible to negotiate Exceptional Recruitment Incentives. New external candidates of the Commonwealth will be eligible to negotiate cash and leave bonuses upon hire. Existing State employees will be eligible to negotiate leave bonuses upon hire.
Minimum Qualifications
• Progressively responsible experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including expertise in SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS)
• Development experience in building, deploying, and supporting applications using .NET Standard 4.8+ and Visual Basic
• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Applications and Data Analysis Expressions (DAX)
• Strong ability to translate formal requirements documentation into effective database and application modules
• Skilled in maintaining and updating code written by other internal developers
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Occasional daytime travel required
Additional Considerations
• Proficient in Microsoft Visual Studio
• Capable of working independently and collaboratively within a team environment
• Demonstrated ability to adapt to new systems and procedures rapidly
• Experience with backup and recovery technologies for databases
• Experience in server and system administration, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability
• Experience with grant management, transportation or finance applications
• Experience with managing WordPress websites and collaborating with developers, designers, and content creators
• Knowledge of website security practices and tools, familiarity with SEO best practices, Siteimprove, and Website analytics
