About the Agency:

The Virginia Department of Military Affairs State Team provides professional and responsive state support functions to the Adjutant General of Virginia, the Virginia National Guard, the Virginia Air Guard, and the Virginia Defense Force in order to ensure their ability to support and defend the United States and the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Purpose of Position:

To provide support in implementing the operation and maintenance plan for National Guard facilities in assisting the Virginia Army National Guard in sustaining readiness and fulfilling our federal and state missions.

This position is based out of Richmond, Virginia at the Defense Supply Center Richmond (DSCR), and will commute regularly throughout the state.

Minimum Qualifications

Must be willing and able to travel on a regular basis throughout the Commonwealth to armories/readiness centers;

Prior facilities/maintenance supervisory experience required;

Advanced knowledge of general construction practices and methods, mechanical trades and job-costing;

Knowledge of the practices and procedures of facilities maintenance and management;

Considerable knowledge of construction and renovation principles;

Knowledge of National Guard Regulations;

Knowledge of State Procurement Policies and contract administration;

Skill in: Communicating effectively both verbally and in writing;

Working knowledge in Microsoft Office products to include Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;

Ability to: review work for accuracy; analyze data to prepare for reports; make mathematical computations;

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds;

Must be able to work both independently and in a team environment with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships;

A valid Driver's License and an acceptable driving record is required.

Additional Considerations

Knowledge of National Guard regulations;

Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation (DPOR) issued license in a field related to Facility Maintenance such as HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing and/or Builder Certification.
