Job Duties
Virginia Energy is in search of a Public Relations Manager that will highlight the essential work of agency staff through diverse education and outreach channels, including events and media engagement. The incumbent will handle marketing events, media relations, agency presentations, FOIA requests, records management, and other public relations duties and responsibilities as needed.
This role can be based in Richmond, Charlottesville, or Big Stone Gap, Virginia and will involve regular travel to support business operations, attend meetings, and represent our agency at key events.

Minimum Qualifications
• Excellent communication (verbal, written, and presentation) skills
• Experience with media relations and understanding of media needs, social media proficiency, and strategic thinking.
• Interview experience in television, radio, newspaper and other media sources
• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build professional relationships with government representatives, stakeholders and customers
• Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting deadlines
• Experience working with personal computers, knowledge of photography and video capturing
• Strong organizational and planning skills
• Knowledge of government processes, an understanding of media laws, and agency and state policies regulating release of public information
• Knowledge of the Freedom of Information Act and Public Records Act.

• Spanish fluency
• Interest in energy, environmental, or economic issues
