Job Duties

Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute has a exciting opportunity for a Timekeeper at our Payroll Department.

The Payroll department which administers the Timekeeping Department is responsible for all aspects of programs for scheduling/deployment of personnel to their work stations and the documentation of that deployment.

The incumbent will perform timekeeping duties by data entry daily into Workforce Central producing and generating work schedules. The incumbent must have strong interpersonal customer service skills and the ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing with all levels of staff. The incumbent will monitor completion of leave slips to match leave time take by employees. The incumbent will Compile/prepare and maintain accurate and efficient data to incorporate into databases. The incumbent must have the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and prioritize workloads.

The shift hours are from 7:30am to 5:30pm with a maximum of 20 hours per week.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Experience/skill with Microsoft Office suite. Ex. Outlook, Excel, Word


Strong interpersonal/customer service skills required.

Ability to research, analyze, problem solve, audit and communicate verbally and in writing

Ability to gather data/information involving overtime, differential, scheduling, leave time and general timekeeping information

Additional Considerations

High school diploma/ bachelor's degree

Knowledge of related rules & regulations including Fair Labor Standards Act & Virginia State policies relative to timekeeping preferred

Demonstrated exp with Word and Excel

Prior work experience in an office setting preferred

Prior experience with payroll and/or timekeeping functions preferred.
