We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Learning and Development Consultant, Sr. with the Virginia Department of Social Services!

The Learning and Development Consultant, Sr., reports to the Chief Learning Officer and is a strategic leadership development partner that is responsible for designing, delivering, and evaluating high-impact learning programs that build leadership capacity at all levels of the organization. This role focuses on leader development, enterprise-wide coaching initiatives, and organizational culture change through innovative and inclusive learning strategies. The position requires significant coaching experience, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to influence through thought leadership.

The Learning and Development Consultant, Sr., provides direct support to VDSS employees, leaders and individual contributors, at every level of the agency. This role will work closely with senior leadership team members, managers, subject matter experts, human resources professionals, other learning and development professionals, and external vendors to identify skill gaps, assess training needs, and provide learning and development solutions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Considerable experience applying principles and practices of adult learning and design to diverse business goals and projects
• Considerable work experience collaborating with leaders (supervisor through executive leadership), teams and vendors on defining project needs, evaluating and assessing learning outcomes for continuous improvement, implementing programs to support organization, team and individual learning and development goals
• Demonstrated experience designing and delivering learning experiences (digitally and in-person) for a variety of learners (employees and leaders) in a hybrid workplace
• Experience coaching employees and organizational leaders through change, transition, promotion/growth, or in leading others
• Agility using new and existing design and productivity applications such as Articulate, Camtasia, Canva, MS Teams, and Zoom
• Experience designing, conducting, and continually assessing learning and development needs in a complex environment using quantitative and qualitative data inputs.
• Experience successfully managing multiple learning projects independently and in team environments
• Strong professional writing and communications skills with a customer centric approach
• Experience interpreting and applying accessibility requirements to learner needs and engagement
• Ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities.

Additional Considerations

• Experience successfully leading teams and projects at various levels of the organization.
• Certified learning professional, coach or strength-based assessment practitioner, instructional design background, diverse skills (technical, programmatic and human) in training design and delivery.
