DBVI provides a quality program of individualized rehabilitation services, educational consultation, technical assistance, and instruction in adaptive techniques that empowers eligible consumers to achieve their desired levels of independence consistent with their abilities and informed choices through services that are well planned and coordinated, and delivered by competent, trained, and highly qualified professionals.
DBVI is seeking a Pre-ETS Specialist to assist in the implementation of the Pre-Employment Transition Services program and ensuring access for students receiving Pre Employment Transition Services who are blind, deaf-blind or vision impaired to career pathway opportunities; assist in coordinating DBVI resources, as needed, to support full participation by such individuals in Pre-ETS activities; assist in providing meaningful opportunities to assist students in setting short and long term goals, and work collaboratively with the Pre-ETS and Career Pathways Coordinator to communicate with DBVI staff and regional offices to facilitate success among the Pre-ETS population.
Completes duties and/or projects as needed or directed by supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
Knowledge/Experience:
- Previous work with transition aged students (14-22) in a Vocational Rehabilitation Setting.
- Experience in providing VR services to individuals who have a disability is preferred, as is experience in developing and implementing programs and initiatives to meet the 5 required Pre-Employment transition services; provide technical assistance for VR staff and/or other workforce professionals on career pathways.
Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to establish effective working relationships among diverse professionals, constituents, and advocates.
- Requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written, for diverse audiences, as well as skills in use of computer applications for writing, desktop publishing, database and budget management, graphics and report preparation.
Ability to travel.
Additional Considerations:
- Background in rehabilitation counseling or closely related field, or commensurate experience is preferred
- Preferred knowledge of public vocational rehabilitation (VR) and the service delivery system for individuals with disabilities.
- Position also prefers knowledge of the VR requirements of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), Pre Employment Transition Services, career pathways principles and effective career pathways strategies, and services to students and youth who have disabilities.
- Experience working collaboratively with business and higher education is a plus.
- Mandatory Training: Annual information technology security training, including personally identifiable information (PII) and personal health information (PHI) modules, as required by DBVI.
