Job Duties

Virginia Energy is seeking a Gas and Oil Compliance/Permit Specialist for its Gas and Oil Program (DGO) Program. This role is responsible for approving and providing permitting, compliance, technical, and informational services to Virginia Energy and its customers. Additionally, the position specializes in well drilling, compressor stations, pipelines, CBM flaring units, methane incineration for carbon credits, and associated activities.

Major areas of responsibility include:

• Evaluating and approving permit applications
• Conducting inspections related to drilling, hydraulic fracturing, cementing, safety, and environmental compliance
• Investigating complaints and incidents, as well as overseeing plugging and reclamation inspections

Minimum Qualifications

• Working knowledge of laws and regulations governing gas and oil operations
• Working knowledge of methods and practices related to gas and oil permitting, prospecting, site construction, drilling, completion, and production, as well as conservation considerations involving other minerals and energy resources
• Ability to secure cooperation from industry representatives in complying with laws and regulations
• Experience working with the public
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Demonstrated ability to use computers and basic software systems
• Ability to walk long distances across mountainous terrain in gas and oil industry settings
• Possession of a valid driver’s license and a good driving record

Additional Considerations

• Hydrogen Sulfide certification and Blow-out certification is preferred
• Ability to interpret Geophysical logs is preferred
