Job Duties
The Supervising Deputy Clerk (Grade 11) under the general supervision of the Clerk of Court, supervises, coordinates, reviews, and evaluates the work of an assigned unit performing a variety of court support work; develops work methods and procedures; recommends procedural changes; and does related work as required. Assigned operational responsibilities in a fast-paced, high volume office with frequent deadlines. Ensures court instruction is executed, and legal documents are prepared accurately and in accordance with appropriate policies and judicial instructions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Handle a wide range of complex clerical and financial tasks to include, including data entry, assessing court costs accurately, accepting and receiving payments, processing court documents, and, when necessary, providing instructions to the public, answering phones, assisting the judge during court, and alphanumeric filing. Supervises the day-to-day operations and support staff associated with the assigned unit. Coaches the appropriate staff to ensure that the Courts, Judges, and the public's needs are met. Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a team. Maintains a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that gets along with customers, clients, co-workers, judges, and supervisors. Researches and provides verbal and written information requested by the public, attorneys, and other government organizations, etc. Must be able to multitask and assume additional duties to accommodate the needs of the clerk's office.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in a related field with at least five (5) years of related experience.
Satisfactory background check. Most competitive applicants will know the court, civil process/criminal justice system, be detail-oriented to include a high degree of accuracy and can manage priorities. Must be able to explain procedures in a clear and easy-to-understand manner in person and over the phone.
