Job Duties
The Accountant Senior performs advanced professional work involving the analysis and interpretation of fiscal data and application of accounting principles to manage key financial functions with agency-wide implications. Responsibilities may include resource management, business operations, accounting system development, revenue control, and complex financial analysis.
The role does involve managing accounts receivables to ensure compliance with state and federal compliance. The position may supervise other fiscal professionals and support staff to ensure the efficient operation of financial processes and compliance with regulations.
The Accounts Receivable team is located within the Virginia Department of Health’s Office of Financial Management. This position is part of a collaborative team that oversees the operational side of the organization and assists with compliance and reporting financial transactions. Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of accounting and financial principles, including accounts
receivable reconciliation, collections, and financial reporting.
• Experience utilizing data tracking and reporting systems to manage and
maintain detailed financial records, generate reports, and analyze trends or
projections.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to provide guidance and
interact with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to reconcile financial data and resolve discrepancies using source
documents and internal systems.
Additional Considerations
• Experience with State accounting processes, procedures and applicable
policies and laws
• Experience with using Microsoft Office products
