Job Duties:
The Virginia Disability Determination Services (DDS) is a division within the Department for Aging and Rehabilitative Services (DARS). DDS objective is to provide accurate, timely, and cost-effective determinations for disability claims filed under Title II, Title XVI, and Title XIX of the Social Security Act, as amended.
We are seeking to fill a DDS Supervisor - Line Unit position. The incumbent supervises a unit of disability analysts, who adjudicate claims for disability benefits. Consults with individual unit members regarding casework and advises appropriate actions to be taken on the claims in accordance with applicable policies. Provides direction and training to unit staff.

Completes duties and/or projects as needed or directed by supervisor.

Knowledge/Experience:
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Social Security disability program and extensive knowledge of medical body systems including major disease processes, treatment regimens, clinical signs, symptoms, laboratory findings, medical terminology, and degree of impact of medically determinable impairments on the mental and physical function of adults and children.
Abilities/Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to accurately interpret, apply and impart complex policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze information, reach logical conclusions, and make feasible recommendations for the consistent and efficient operation of a statewide program.
- Demonstrated ability to review and/or direct the work of others.
- Demonstrated ability to organize large volumes of work and maintain time frames and goals.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively utilize position related computer applications.

- Must pass HSPD-12 credentialing.
- This has been designated a sensitive position under Va. Code § 2.2-1201.1.
