Job Duties
We are seeking a Business Systems Analyst to join our data analytics team as well as work on other types of analysis projects. Collaborates with business stakeholders to solicit and write requirements and system specifications for the data warehouse platform. Works closely with our end users, analysts and IT teams. Tests and validates data. Educates and trains business partners and clients to use analytical tools. Develops detailed knowledge and functional area expertise of business processes. Participates in teams and maintains positive, professional relationships with colleagues and customers. Ensures compliance with the VITA project management standards and procedures for development, enhancement, and deployment of applications developed or procured by ITU to deliver services that satisfy user requirements and ITU established standards. Demonstrates initiative, timeliness, professional self-development, strong oral and written communications skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Considerable experience in a business analysis role working in the information technology area. Experience writing requirements/specifications for at least one of the following deliverables: Reports, Business Intelligence, Analytic Dashboards, Integrations.
SQL experience and demonstrated knowledge of SQL. Knowledge and experience with at least one of the following tools: MicroStrategy, Business Objects, Tableau, Dossier, SAS, Microsoft Power BI. Experience creating and managing a requirements traceability matrix. Demonstrated skill in requirements solicitation techniques. Experience with data analysis and data profiling to discover patterns, meaningful relationships, anomalies and trends.
Experience documenting test cases, test steps and results. Experience testing and validating data for analytical systems, reports, integrations and user experience. Expert and applied skill in negotiation, facilitation, consensus building and options exploration.
General understanding of relational database and data warehousing concepts. Excellent oral and written communications skills with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to business users in a clear and concise manner. Experience training end users how to use analytical solutions and drive user adoption.
Additional Considerations
Hands on experience with reporting tools. Experience working on teams using a variety of Systems Development Life Cycle (SDLC) processes including Waterfall, Kanban, Agile, and Iterative. Expertise in designing tests with automated tools. Knowledge of statistical analysis. Project management experience.
