The Virginia Department of Health Profession's (DHP) mission is to ensure safe and competent patient care by licensing health professionals, enforcing standards of practice, and providing information to health care practitioners and the public.
The Discipline Case Manager duties include, but are not limited to, coordinating the case adjudication processes of the Board of Nursing to evaluate and make decisions related to practitioner misconduct, Facilitating the complete review of facts and application of relevant law and regulation to assigned cases, including probable cause determinations. Other duties include oversight of the probable cause review process including the supervision of probable cause review staff, scheduling of Informal Conferences for Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Cases and MyLicenseOffice MLO and Digital Case Management Applications duties. In addition, the Discipline Case Manager will hold Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) responsibilities such as ensuring the posting of significant investigations and HPMP participation to NURSYS and reviewing and utilizing NURSYS information to perform case review.
Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of nursing practice and laws and regulations governing the practice of nursing. Knowledge of and experience in clinical nursing practice
• Effective public contact and organizational skills, along with effective analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Demonstrated computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro DC.
• The ability to work independently and set priorities.
• Demonstrated ability to analyze patient treatment records, legal documents and technical material to recommend case management decisions. • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to review reports of investigation to determine if conduct constitutes a violation of law or regulation governing nursing.
• Strong management and leadership skills.
• Demonstrated ability to independently manage and supervise employees, including the ability to establish and evaluate performance goals.
· Knowledgeable concerning the statutes, regulations and policies governing the NLC.
· Proficient skills in navigation and utilization of NURSYS application.

-Experience in regulatory/legal environment preferred.
