Job Duties
The Virginia Retirement Systems’ Procurement Office is seeking a Business Analyst. The Business Analyst is responsible for collecting and analyzing business requirements, testing, implementing IT solutions and conducting process improvements for business units. This role, serving as a liaison between technology teams and business units, collaborates with stakeholders, performs data analysis, assists with conducting workshops, and develops documentation. This position contributes to market research, alternative analyses and the development of business cases.
• Conducts current state, future state analysis, and identifies potential solution options.
• Translates business requirements into technical specifications.
• Conducts interviews with stakeholders to document business processes.
• Develops and maintains requirements traceability matrix.
• Supports conducting market research, evaluating potential solutions, developing business cases including cost-benefit analysis and return on investment.
• Identifies and recommends process improvements to enhance operational efficiency.
• Assists in preparing and delivering presentations on technical topics to key stakeholders.
• Coordinates with cross-functional teams to deliver IT solutions.
• Creates test plans and test cases.
• Performs system, functional, and user acceptance testing (UAT) to verify IT solutions/products meet requirements and quality standards.
• Acts as a liaison between stakeholders and technical teams.
• Performs other assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Engineering, IT or a related field.
- Three years’ experience in IT business analysis.
Additional Considerations
Six years of experience in IT business analysis preferred.
Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification from IIBA is preferred.
Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio. Working knowledge of software development lifecycle methodologies. Working knowledge of Jira or similar issue tracking tool. Working knowledge of SQL query is a plus, but not necessary. Proficiency with Power BI or similar reporting tools.
Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and time management skills and detail-oriented. Excellent interpersonal skills, including active listening skills and the ability to successfully interact in a team environment. Ability to effectively manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work well under pressure. Critical thinker, who is comfortable in and embraces the unknown. The current hybrid schedule for technology employees is 3 days onsite (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday) and 2 days remote (Monday and Friday). All employees must be able to work the current hybrid schedule and report to the office as needed on designated remote days.
