Job Duties
The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing court-involved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is currently seeking a QA Administrative Assistant. This role will provide administrative, fiscal, and clerical support for the Quality Assurance Unit and Regional Service Coordination (RSC) Model. They will support activities to include assistance with unit business processes, budget development, procurement, eVA, information technology, tracking and monitoring of the various services delivered to youth through multiple funding streams.
Minimum Qualifications
- Considerable knowledge of office practices, procedures, and techniques; of Business English for report development and correspondence; of filing; and of treatment of confidential records.
- Considerable knowledge of computer software packages used in a business setting to include word processing, graphics, desktop publishing, spreadsheet applications, database management and considerable skill in keyboarding.
- Working knowledge of state procurement and travel processes.
- Working knowledge of the organization and operations of state government; of analytical processes; and of research methods.
- Proficiency in Microsoft and other computer software including spreadsheets, word processing, databases, and presentation packages.
- Demonstrated ability to ensure correct spelling, punctuation, and grammar in business documents and reports; to provide both quantitative and narrative reports on activities; to communicate effectively and tactfully with all levels of persons both orally and in writing.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and convey policies and procedures of the department; and to prioritize and organize work, coordinate multiple assignments, and meet critical deadlines.
- A valid driver’s license.
Additional Considerations
- Considerable experience and/or additional training in business practices, writing skills, and interpersonal communications.
- Progressive experience serving in administrative roles, which includes workflow analyses, project management, policy interpretation and application.
- Experience working with highly confidential documentation to include personnel documents.
