Job Duties

Central State Hospital (CSH) is a 277-bed Joint Commission accredited psychiatric inpatient facility located in Petersburg, Virginia. Established in 1870, CSH holds the distinction of being the first psychiatric hospital in the nation dedicated to the treatment of African Americans. Job Duties:

- Performs preventive maintenance as assigned by Lead Technician or Supervisor to include all tasks listed on PM work order;
- Completes documentation accurately and timely;
- Ensures all related parts receipts are attached to work order before submission to Lead Tech;
- Inspects vehicle for any unreported repair needs and notify supervisor of all repair needs;
- Performs and/or assists with complex repairs to vehicles and equipment;
- Performs work within established safety requirements and current policies and procedures;
- Other duties assigned by Lead or Supervisor

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required to Successfully Perform the Job:

- Working knowledge of diagnostic and repair techniques and procedures as related to a wide variety of motorized diesel and gasoline equipment.
- Use of computer based diagnostic and testing equipment.
- Competent in vehicle shop safe working practices.
- Knowledge, skills, and ability to use hand tools, power tools, and vehicle lifts during repairs as needed.
- Comprehend technical information from repair manuals in repairing equipment.
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor as needed during repair of vehicles.
- Basic computer knowledge required.

Minimum Qualifications

- Documented training along with work experience in the maintenance and repair of
vehicles and motorized equipment. (Required)
- Valid Virginia Driver’s License. (Required)

Additional Considerations

- Certified Welder. (Preferred)
- Valid State of Virginia Commercial Driver’s License with air brake endorsement. (Preferred)
