Natural Bridge State Park is accepting applications for a Chief Ranger - Maintenance and Operations. In this position, you will join a winning team and assist Park Leadership with the overall management and operation of Natural Bridge State Park.
In this position, you will:
- Perform maintenance and operation of the wastewater plant.
- Perform preventive maintenance of park buildings and grounds.
- Supervise staff who perform wastewater, building, and grounds maintenance activities.
- Review and complete various tasks using maintenance management software, such as timekeeping, creating schedules, assigning work, procurement, and accident reports.
- Assist with the development of the park budget and annual operating plan.
- Provides supervision and inspection of cyclical facilities/grounds/equipment maintenance tasks to ensure tasks are completed in compliance with OSHA, VDH, agency standards, or in compliance with other pertinent regulations.
- Will assist with managing and maintaining cultural and natural resources of the park and provide supervision and oversight for volunteer programs.

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience supervising and providing training to staff and/or volunteers.
- Experience providing customer service in a public setting.
- Knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform preventive maintenance on buildings and grounds using a variety of tools, vehicles, and equipment.
- Familiarity with using computers, electronic devices, and software to create schedules, develop and track work assignments, asset management, timekeeping, and other technological tasks.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
Additional Considerations
- Demonstrated work history or volunteer experience in a parks and recreation or similar environment.
- Experience with administrative functions such as project planning, budget and cash management, and procurement.
- Knowledge of OSHA and Bloodborne Pathogens policies and procedures.
- Experience in Wastewater Operations.
- Experience in resource management.
- Relevant certifications or licenses such as CPR/First Aid/AED, Pesticide Applicator’s License, or a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Current sworn conservation officers will have to relinquish their certification. Law enforcement is NOT a requirement for this position.
As a condition of employment, this position provides security and operational efficiencies to the property of the Department—responding to calls outside normally scheduled business hours and handling activities normally reserved for residentially-based staff. Because park-owned housing is not currently available, a supplement will be provided to compensate for these additional duties and responsibilities. However, it should be noted that, as a condition of employment, the incumbent's primary residence must be close enough to the park to be able to respond within a reasonable time when on-call status. Once park-owned housing is available, this position will be required to live in park-owned housing.

- Free camping outside of the Memorial Day weekend to the Labor Day period in sites designed for up to six people.

- Fifty percent discount on cabins (up to 3 bedrooms) outside of Memorial Day weekend to Labor Day, for a maximum of 14 nights. All reservations require a two-night minimum. Bunkhouses, camping cabins, and yurts are included; one-night yurt stays only receive a 25% discount.
