Job Duties

The Deputy Clerk is assigned operational responsibilities and ensures court's instructions are executed and legal papers are prepared with accuracy and in accordance with appropriate policies and procedures. Reporting to the Clerk of Court or designee, this position carries out a range of clerical, courtroom, and administrative support tasks for the court according to the established procedures, Virginia statutes, rules, and local ordinances. Must provide excellent customer service in person and by phone. Filing, data entry, answering telephone calls, counter assistance, receiving payments, processing mail, and delivering documents to other offices within the building.

This position is for 10 hours per week and could be flexible on days.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; business courses preferred. Requires knowledge and skills of general office operations and procedures (i.e. typing, filing, data entry, and receipting payments). Verbal and written communications skills.

Additional Considerations

Microsoft Office experience a plus.
