Job Duties
This position supports all major Human Resource functions at Piedmont Geriatric Hospital, including employee relations, recruitment, orientation, benefits, and compensation. Key duties include serving as the primary contact for employee concerns, facilitating conflict resolution, administering recruitment and onboarding processes, and providing training and guidance on policies and benefits. The role also manages employee leave and benefit programs (VSDP, FMLA, Workers’ Compensation), supports classification and compensation activities, and coordinates annual events such as Open Enrollment and the Service Award Program. In the absence of the HR Director, the incumbent oversees HR operations, supervises staff, advises leadership, and serves as the facility’s VNAV Security and VRS Administrator.
Minimum Qualifications
• Knowledge of general HR policies and procedures
• Ability to be an ambassador for department
• Knowledge of federal, state employment law in regard to FLSA, EEO, Workers Compensation, Compensation and Classification, ADA and FMLA
• Advanced skills in Microsoft applications Suite, to include Microsoft Teams
• Skilled in record and file management systems
• Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to all levels of management, employees and general public
• Ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously, work independently and meet deadlines with minimal supervision.
• Ability to ensure adherence to established guidelines, regulations and policies. Ability to conduct alcohol and drug screens.
Additional Considerations
Preferred Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited college or university with major course work in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Business Administration, Business Marketing or equivalent training and experience.
Professional certification in Human Resources (PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP)
Experience working in large and complex public entity with diverse employee populations is preferred.
Experience working with state programs and systems such as VSDP, Cardinal, VRS, and PageUp
