ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION
The Southwest Virginia Higher Education Center, a GREAT PLACE, doing GREAT THINGS, because of GREAT PEOPLE, is seeking applicants to fill a Maintenance Technician position. This is a full-time/salaried position with benefits.

ABOUT THE POSITION
This position is located in the Maintenance Department and is primarily responsible for performing routine and daily maintenance tasks to ensure the facility operates safely and efficiently. The position may require responding to building emergencies or snow removal outside of normal working hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.


This position will be responsible for all landscaping, snow removal, HVAC, general maintenance, including drywall and painting, repair, and preventative work throughout the facility. The role includes handling support calls and ensuring timely responses to maintenance requests. In addition, this position will assist with electrical and plumbing tasks as needed. The individual is expected to maintain the safe, efficient, and continuous operation of the facility, while also providing customer classroom support when required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Considerable experience and knowledge of maintenance and facility support activities.
• Must possess the physical ability to lift moderate to heavy weight and climb ladders.
• Possess the ability to bend and walk or stand for extended periods of time.
• Possess the ability to work outdoors in hot or cold conditions.
• Must possess the ability to read, write, and comprehend directions and instructions.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Effective computer and technology skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

Additional Considerations

• Considerable experience in the maintenance field.
