The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) is the state’s lead conservation agency, and it takes a diverse agency to conserve resources for a diverse commonwealth.
Virginia’s award-winning state park system, a division of DCR, boasts an incredible and diverse array of natural, cultural, historical, and recreational resources including parks in the mountains, on the ocean, on the Chesapeake Bay, on 8 major rivers, on 4 major lakes, 4 rail trails, 3 battlefield sites, and 32 sites listed on the National Historic Registry. Our parks encompass over 75,000 acres, offering campsites, cabins, trails, shorelines, lakes and ponds, international dark sky sites, and over 20,000 educational programs and workshops each year.
As a Data Integrity Specialist, you will:
- Reconcile and validate data across multiple enterprise platforms to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Assist in testing and refining data modeling scenarios to support strategic decision-making.
- Audit the accuracy of ad hoc reports utilized by staff as well as identify data gaps.
- Provide direct project support by conducting research, report preparation, proofreading, or other project support tasks as assigned.
- Assist in the completion of internal POS support tickets as needed.
- Gather and structure data to be used in Power BI dashboards, Excel Workbooks, and Power Automate.
- Investigate data anomalies and report out to management.
- Document processes and then assist in the creation of internal training materials.
- Assist with the procurement and coordination of Point-of-Sale (POS) hardware as needed.
- Partner with other sections as needed to accomplish goals.
- Occasionally assist with POS administration projects.
Will require occasional overnight travel within the state.

Minimum Qualifications
- Strong understanding of relational databases and data modeling.
- Proficiency in using advanced Excel functions and formulas.
- Experience that demonstrates excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and anticipate needs.
- Knowledge of basic accounting practices.
Additional Considerations
- Experience with state accounting procedures and financial systems.
- Familiarity with State Parks or general recreational park operations.
- Experience creating data visualizations using programs such as Excel, Tableau, and/or Power BI.
- Experience with database administration.
- Experience demonstrating ability to work with sensitive information while maintaining confidentiality.
- Experience with the state procurement system.
- Past experience using Power Automate.

Wage/seasonal positions are not eligible for Commonwealth of Virginia benefits (health care, paid leave, etc.) and are limited to 1,500 hours from May 1 to April 30.
