Job Duties
To provide the following functions in the Agribusiness program located at Nottoway Correctional Center: training, direction, and supervision of inmates in horticulture, vegetable production, orchard production, and pesticide application. This is a part of the reentry program that will provide training for inmates to prepare them to return to the work force with some type of skills.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of row and vegetable crops from planting stage to market, greenhouse and orchard crops. General knowledge of maintenance and operation of farm equipment, cattle production, building construction and land management. Demonstrated ability to operate farm equipment and demonstrated ability to supervise, follow written and oral instructions, keep accurate records and solve practical problems. A valid driver’s license.
Additional Considerations
Agricultural, construction or equipment experience. Possession of Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and Pesticide Application Permit or the ability to obtain them. High School diploma or equivalent.
