Job Duties
This position supports the organization’s financial operations by performing key fiscal and administrative tasks, with a focus on accounts payable, time and effort reporting, and compliance with funding requirements. This role ensures accurate financial processing, maintains fiscal records, assists in audits, and provides fiscal and administrative support to the Accountant Sr. to uphold financial integrity and regulatory compliance.
The incumbent is responsible for accurate grant budgeting, expenditure tracking, and financial reporting to support fiscal sustainability and effective resource allocation. Through meticulous oversight of grant billing, revenue recognition, and adherence to funding regulations, the Grants Specialist position helps maintain the financial foundation essential for delivering impactful public health programs.
Minimum Qualifications
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and the capacity to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Proven experience performing complex account reconciliations and accounting entries in alignment with GAAP.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables, data analysis).
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in explaining financial concepts to non-financial individuals.
• Experience working with automated financial systems and adapting quickly to new technologies.
• Demonstrated knowledge of state accounting policies and procedures
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Additional Considerations
• Working knowledge of the Commonwealth Accounting System (Cardinal)
• Some leadership qualities, such as mentoring others or leading projects.
• Solid experience and understanding of state and local government financial operations.
