Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Health is currently seeking an IT Staff Auditor to join our Office of Internal Audit.  The IT Auditor will play a critical role in planning and conducting testing for information technology audits across all VDH activities.

The Virginia Department of Health is currently seeking an IT Staff Auditor to join our Office of Internal Audit.  The IT Auditor will play a critical role in planning and conducting testing for information technology audits across all VDH activities. 

The IT Auditor will assist in preparing the annual IT risk assessment, propose and prioritize audits, and help develop the annual audit plan. Responsibilities include drafting audit programs, planning and performing IT audits in line with IIA Standards, evaluating cybersecurity and compliance controls, and providing technical support for audit tools and techniques.

The role also involves supporting performance audits, identifying audit criteria and data sources, developing audit objectives and programs, and clearly communicating findings. The IT Auditor will ensure audit workpapers are well-organized and meet documentation standards, assist with follow-up reviews, contribute to special projects, and support the development of the annual audit plan.

Minimum Qualifications

• Knowledge and ability to plan and conduct a variety of information security audits
• Knowledge of IT operating and application systems, infrastructure, and networks
• Ability to coordinate multiple concurrent audits, meet timeframes, and establish/maintain effective working relationships
• Excellent written and oral communication skills

Additional Considerations

• CPA, CIA, CISA or other applicable professional certification
• Knowledge and work experience in Commonwealth Information Security Standards and guidelines
