Job Duties

The Office of Licensure and Certification in Richmond, VA is seeking full-time Medical Facility Inspectors for the Northern Virginia HCO (Home Care Organization) acute care team. This position will conduct onsite inspections and complaint investigations of HCOs. This position currently offers a sign-on bonus of $5,000 and 80 hours of front-loaded annual leave time with a one-year written agreement for external candidates. This position will require travel and overnight travel.
Medical Facilities Inspectors, independently or as part of a team, conduct inspections of HCOs for the purpose of licensure, maintenance and/or renewal to ensure compliance with state regulations and promotion of quality health care practices. Conducts complaint investigations; compiles and evaluates information, and communicates findings orally and in writing; reviews and recommends approval, denial, or revisions to health care provider's plan. Travel is required throughout the state of Virginia and can be extensive at times (3-4 days per week).

Minimum Qualifications
• Specialized knowledge of health care systems and services, quality of care issues & health care administration
• Experience communicating orally and in writing in a clear, concise, and legally defensible manner; Experience managing multiple assignments independently.
• Experience assessing individual patient/resident medical care plans and outcomes, the overall quality of facility care and services, and to interpret and apply complex state/federal regulations to the findings
• If working in LTC and/or Complaint unit, must obtain SMQT Certification within 12 months of hire date. All MFIs must obtain medical clearance for fit testing in accordance with OSHA Respiratory Protection Standard (29 CFR 1910.134) [Ref.2] regulations within 90 days of hire date and annually with exception to Complaint Unit.
