Virginia’s award-winning state park system, a division of DCR, boasts an incredible and diverse array of natural, cultural, historical, and recreational resources including parks in the mountains, on the ocean, on the Chesapeake Bay, on 8 major rivers, on 4 major lakes, 4 rail trails, 3 battlefield sites, and 32 sites listed on the National Historic Registry. Our parks encompass over 75,000 acres, offering campsites, cabins, trails, shorelines, lakes and ponds, international dark sky sites, and over 20,000 educational programs and workshops each year.

DCR is hiring! Join us in preserving what people care about most – access to the outdoors, natural habitats, open spaces, clean water, and safe infrastructure. Westmoreland State Park is accepting applications for an Office Manager.

On the Potomac River’s Northern Neck, Westmoreland State Park offers many opportunities for family fun. It’s listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Fossil collectors enjoy hunting for ancient shark teeth along the Potomac. Offshore breakwaters are great for fishing. Birding enthusiasts find the park an excellent site for spotting American bald eagles, ospreys, kingfishers, great blue herons, common terns, green herons and gulls, as well as wintering waterfowl.

As the Office Manager, you will:

  • Identify priorities of the park and develop standards and objectives for administrative processes.
  • Coordinate a variety of business functions including budgeting, financial and account management, human resources, records management, procurement, and administrative activities such as project tracking and reporting; and ensure compliance with agency and state requirements.
  • Coordinate human resource functions, including hiring, onboarding, scheduling, training, and supervising wage staff.
  • Manage administrative systems such as records management, project tracking, reporting, and computer operations.
  • Serve as liaison between central administrative offices and park field operations, working independently under the general supervision of the park manager.

The Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation offers paid leave; 13 paid holidays; medical, dental, vision, and life insurance; retirement plans (including 401a Cash Match and 457 Deferred Compensation Plan for classified positions, and VaLORS for law enforcement positions); and is a federally recognized Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) employer.
